Acupuncture is an integral part of a holistic medical system used for centuries to help millions of people regain their health and to stay well without invasive techniques or harmful side effects.

Acupuncture originated over 5,000 years ago when the ancient Chinese discovered an energy network inside the body. This life energy is called Qi (pronounced "chee."). It circulates through specific pathways called Meridians that link internal organs and structures to the outside of the body.

When the energy or Qi flows freely, a person feels balanced and well. However, when this vital energy becomes blocked or weakened, it can “clog” the entire system, producing pain and other symptoms.

The classical acupuncture texts will compare this flow of Qi to an underground stream that must flow smoothly, and injuries, imbalance, and illness will provide blocks in this stream.

An acupuncturist is trained to diagnose and treat imbalances in the system by inserting fine, sterile, disposable needles at specific acupoints on the body. This safe, proven technique promotes natural healing by releasing energy blocks, enhancing recuperative power, immunity, and overall function and health.

Chinese Herbology

Chinese Herbology is an elegant method of combining herbs to treat imbalances. In thousands of years of experience in Chinese medicine, generation by generation, there are hundreds of excellent classic formulas to be used to treat different diseases. They have proven to be very effective in treating all kinds of conditions. Often a formula is given based on the classic formula, adjusting the dosage depending on your condition.

A formula is made from typically 10-15 herbs together with appropriate dosage depending on your condition and the treatment principle. This is inherently different then Western Herbology where normally only one or two herbs are given at a time. Chinese herbology combines herbs so that they work synergistically for optimum results.

Craniosacral Therapy (CST)

CST was pioneered and deeloped by osteopathic physician John E. Upledger. CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.

Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system.

By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction, including:

  • Migraine Headaches
  • Chronic Neck and Back Pain
  • Motor-Coordination Impairments
  • Colic
  • Central Nervous System Disorders
  • Orthopedic Problems
  • Traumatic Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries
  • Emotional Difficulties
  • Stress and Tension-Related Problems
  • Fibromyalgia and other Connective-Tissue Disorders
  • Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ)
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
